Blue Jay, Squirrel & Frogs ~ Tuesday’s Show & Tail

Image
Well, I haven’t posted one of these in quite awhile I see. Thought I would post one for today. In front of our trailer, there are always cardinals, blue jays and other birds flying about. I happened to get close enough to capture this beauty: My former step-cousins, now friends (long story short their mom and my uncle were married until his death in 1993), found a nest of baby squirrels that blew out of one of her trees not too long ago. Here is the one that survived: Ain’t it cute?!!? Her mom and brother are nursing it and keeping it as a pet. And for my birthday, my bestie sent me another Froggy something: I love it!

Some Stitching…FINALLY

Image
I finally felt like doing some stitching yesterday and today. I filled in more of the sky on Washington Monument: Somewhere along the way, I lost a row. However, when I count the rows on the trees, they seem to be correct. I will have to just adjust because I will be damned if I frog ALL of that blue, LOL!!! I began the bottom half of Married This Day:   I will have to figure out how to do the lettering on this one as I am reworking it in French and this means less space is needed.       And I made a special bookmark for a friend of mine: This has a significant meaning to the recipient. I am sure he will enjoy it!

Soul Searching

The past couple of weeks have been emotionally difficult for me. A lot of old, deeply buried emotions have bubbled over the surface and for the first time in about 10 years I am feeling again. I have a couple of really good friends to thank for this as I really need to feel this junk that I bottled up. The 1990s was a decade that could only be described as hell for me. This is where a lot of these emotions stem from. The things that happened to me during that decade. If I were into drugs or alcohol, I might have made it through differently. Alas, I did not resort to either vice. Instead, I buried my feelings and began the long process of isolation in 1998. Beginning with the early part of the decade, I graduated high school in 1990. About a year later, I found myself moving to southern California and getting married to someone I barely knew. We only corresponded through letters and telephone conversations, but we connected. I was trying to runaway from the place I was in at the time.

Crazy Update

Just a quick post to show the latest on Washington Monument : Been dealing with a lot of buried emotions. Not doing a lot of stitching right now. Will be back in a few days…

Emotional Week

Haven’t done any stitching the past week, until last night. Just been dealing with a lot of old emotions, plus changes at work. Will post an update soon though on Washington’s Monument.

The week from hell, so far!

Image
Other than spending some time with a good friend this week, my week hasn’t been all that great! It started out with being called into work on Monday because a co-worker called out sick. Ok, so I had an extra day for the week. Plus, my friend came over that evening and we had a blast watching Jeff Dunham (dvd’s) and chatting. I think know he got a great kick out of the puppets, especially Walter and Peanut, LOL! Anyway, Tuesday morning came and I anticipated going into work around 11am. WRONG! No call, no show from the one co-worker so I got called in early. I was a bit pissed! Then, on top of everything, the emotions spilled over yesterday evening. I probably sat on my bed and cried for about two hours not really understanding what started the water works, but realised that part of it had to do with my dad’s health issue at the moment and part of it was the stuff going on at work. That’s where we get to today. This morning, I went in (as planned) at 9am. No call, no show again! As

Crazy Challenge updates

Image
I have been busily working on some of the pieces this past week. My schedule at work has changed, so I may have more free time to stitch during the summer. This is the time of year when things really die down at the shop ~ especially because the snowbirds head north. Anyway, here are some pictures:   The Gardeners has been fun to stitch, actually. I did decide to use 3 strands on the purple flowers (see close-up in 2nd pic). I am hoping to give it a little depth by adding the strand. Try to Relax is coming along and is nearly finished. One of the specialty stitches is the stem stitch, so I will be adding another one to my arsenal of learned stitches before long! I spent the past couple days on Washington Monument and plan to finish Halloween tonight during Desperate Housewives . Dad goes in for Round #2 in the morning so I will have at least 1 day of peace. The other 2 will be at work, so not so peaceful, lol! Until next time…

Crazy days and updates!

Image
Well, last week turned out to be quite a crazy one in the shop. I put in over 55 hours  in a 6-day period and the check is gonna be oh so worth it! I’ll be able to get caught up…AGAIN, lol. And maybe I will have a little left to get some darker fabric so I can finally go back to stitching on Medallions. For now, the Crazy rotation continues. I put in some work on Lincoln’s Birthplace (and unfortunately he doesn’t have a complete roof yet), Cream for Kitty, and Mabry Mill. Here are some pictures: I hope all of the mother’s out here in blogland are enjoying their special day today! Last night, after getting off work at nearly 6:30pm, dad and I made the 45 minute trip to my Aunt and Uncle’s house to deliver flowers to her from one of my cousins. And today, we made the 30 minute trip north to my grandma’s to take her some flowers. I also got to see the newest furbabies. There are 4 white with some blackish splotches on their heads and one gray tabby. They are soooo cute! But not as cut

Stitchy update…

Image
Well, I spent the last couple of evenings in April working on Wilson’s Birthplace. I am almost finished with the house and then I can finish the rest of the stuff on it. Here’s where I left it as of 30 April: The most difficult part about this piece is the white and the light grey portions. I found that I had mixed them up somehow the other night and had to let Monsieur Frog visit a little bit. Oh well, that’s what happens when two colors are sooo very close in shade and the lighting is less than perfect for the moment. I am just thankful only a handful of stitches had to come out and not an entire section. LOL Last night and this evening, I plan to work on Lincoln’s some more. His birthplace almost has a roof! Woo Woo!! I will be glad to have that part done because stitching the same 2 colors over and over is getting mundane. Dad’s first round of chemo started shortly before 6pm this evening. He will be in the hospital until Wednesday, and then we repeat in 2 weeks. Until next

May Day, May Day

Image
It’s the first day of May so do you know what that means?! It’s May Day!! My second favorite date of the year (after my birthday, of course, which falls in the month of MAY). In a few short days, I will be 1 year away from turning 4-0! Oh My God!!! I am thankful for the last 38 years, and 344 days I have spent on this Earth and I am looking forward to many more years, God Willing! I will be back for a stitchy update on Monday evening. For now, be sure to check my left sidebar for the latest Giveaways! I know there must be more than what I have listed, but I haven’t run across them…YET. Until next time…
