Grandma's 85th Birthday

I can't believe I forgot to wish my grandma a Happy Birthday yesterday! I miss her so much and still can't believe she has been gone almost 16 years now. She is the woman who I learned from the most during my childhood as my mother was a single parent, raising two children, working full time and going to school to become a nurse. Grandma was like a mom to me most of those days. A couple of years after her death, I wrote a couple of poems for her. I will post one here...



My grandma

She made me laugh
She made me cry
And made me laugh again

She taught me values
She taught me love
And her fiery spirit too

She showed me music
She showed me literature
And showed me love once more

She gave me strength
She gave me honesty
My grandma gave me life

The one thing that
I wish she taught me
Was how to get through life
When she was gone

Holi-versary Giveaway!

Farewell Daddy 3.8.1949 ~ 9.5.2012

Thank you for being my daddy for the last 40 plus years. You were my rock when I needed one. You were my best friend. You are now in our loving Lord’s arms and healed of your pain. Reuniting with long departed loved ones. And Mrs. Beasley too. I will miss the way you play your guitar and sing the songs you enjoy. I will miss our drives together finding new places to see and explore. I will miss you, daddy, the rest of my physical life. I look forward to the day we see each other again. May WIPocalypse check-in and a Giveaway

Well, it’s almost here! I am almost 40!! Why do I sound so happy about it you might be wondering. Most people get to this age and act as though their world is coming to an end. I choose to look at it in a positive way: I am STILL ALIVE!!! I know HE has a plan for me and my life. I am thankful everyday that I wake up. I am also thankful for my stitchy friends here in bloggy-land. Just because we don’t know one another on a personal level doesn’t mean we don’t know one another, right?!
