Lettuce Lake Park (picture heavy)

Went on a little walk in nature yesterday. What started out as a visit to the local VA Hospital for an ultrasound on my kidney turned into a jaunt at Lettuce Lake Park in Tampa. Here are some pictures from what I saw. This heron didn't know what to make of the gator

A Finish and a park

A Big WELCOME to my newest followers! I finally finished Married This Day !!! I am very pleased with how it looks and can’t wait to get a frame for it so I can finish-finish it and send it to my best friend. Here is the finished product:   Married This Day by Ursula Michael Started: February 27, 2011 Finished: November 26, 2011 I kept with a French theme as my best friend is from Nantes, France. I used “Marie ce Jour” instead of “Married This Day”. I also used the non-American way of placing the date: DD-MM-YY. I am sure she will treasure this piece. Now, the only question I have on this piece is: to Matte or Not to matte? I think I will need to use an Ivory or Cream color matte to separate the fabric from the frame itself. Plus, there is a tiny smudge near the lower left corner that I need to hide. My cousin came over yesterday afternoon for a few hours. We are very close and haven’t been able to spend much time together this year, even though we only live about...

Critters & Creatures - Tuesday's Show & Tail

Image
Yesterday's post was a lead-in to today's. My dad and I went to the Withlacoochee River State Park (about 10 miles from our house) on Sunday. We have driven through there before and he took my niece there a few years ago, but I had never been able to take any pictures until now. Here are some of the critters and creatures I (we) saw (be careful - that last creature can be especially dangerous, LOL LOL LOL):

I managed to pick up my Christmas Design SAL piece and do a little bit of stitching on it. Here is a before: and after: I also gave the wrist band thingy for my camera to my sister so she would quit dropping hers back in June while we were on our trip. Soooo, I made myself a new one using some yarn and a crochet hook. Mind you, I am not much for crochet and only know the very basic single stitch, et voila: We have been having typical summer tropical storm weather here in central Florida and I have been trying to capture some of the more impressive sunsets. Here are some pics of Wednesday evening’s sunset: I took the pictures through my bedroom window and the screen kept coming into focus so the last couple are a bit blurry, set on the "sunset" setting, but you get the idea! Finally , I have been trying without much luck to get some of that Chicken Noodle soup from Subway. It seems they only ever have Broccoli and Cheese anymore so I made my own. Here are a c...

Monday Blahs…

Image
Yeah, I have the blahs today. Actually have had them for a few days now. Don’t want to work on my thesis. Don’t want to stitch. Just sitting in front of the computer playing stupid games. Ok, no more about the blahs. They take up too much of people’s lives! LOL Loretta, a big THANK YOU for the chart from your last giveaway! I did finally receive it, after some snafu’s with the mailing and the post. LOL…all is well and arrived save and sound. Now, who do I stitch the Strawberry House for and when?!? Lot’s to decide there! I do have an “orange blossom” update! Aren’t they getting so big?!? I just hope they don’t spoil before I can ship some to one of my friends. LOL And I do have a sunset pic to share:   Look at all of that orange! We do get some of the most beautiful sunsets around here. I found out over the weekend that a gentleman whom I had the pleasure of knowing and working with in Michigan passed last week after a series of illnesses. When I left MI in 2006 ...
