A Non-Stitchy Post

Image
Yea, I read a couple  of blogs this evening and thought I would share my little toe too! Parsley and Emily are just too funny in having this competition! I can’t say that my little toe is ugly, but the nail is disgusting, to me anyway (because of the skin over growth near the cuticle). So, here is my little toe: Thanks ladies! I needed that laugh!!! This has been a crappy week so far. It started with my taking dad to the hospital at 3am Monday morning. After about 30 minutes, the doctor decided he had pneumonia and admitted him. Later, when the floor doctor saw him, she told him it’s not pneumonia, but wanted to look at his gall bladder, appendix, and kidneys. Nope, not there either, so this morning they decided to do a colonoscopy. Well, there was a mass found in an area that couldn’t be removed during that procedure so he will be having surgery in the next day or so to remove it for biopsy. Praying it’s not the big “C”, but prepared mentally either way. To top it off we h...

Well, I hoped…

…to have had a finish over the weekend, but alas I spent it running between work, home and the hospital. Dad was in with an infection in his secum, but he is now home on antibiotics. A sure sign he is feeling better: he is driving me nutso, LOL! I do love him though. He’s the only daddy I have afterall and I don’t think I could stand losing him right now. Here is a semi-recent pic of him:   I have been working on another piece for TGPC. This one is called Happy Howloween by Charles Craft. Of course, I don’t necessarily have all of the recommended floss, but I do have adequate alternates in my stash. I am still trying to get rid of use up some old floss that just seems to be going nowhere fast. Anyhoo, here is a progress pic: It will be finished tonight or tomorrow night at the latest. I am ready to move on to other things, LOL! I also recently paid a visit to Quilts on Plum Lane in Dade City. I decided to head up there one morning last week before work to pick u...

Edgar, this one's for you!

Image
I don't normally go around taking pictures of the food I am about to eat, but I couldn't resist this time! As most of you know (those that follow Edgar over at Blacksheep's ), we get to read and see lots of interesting dishes and pastries. Well, I took my dad to an Italian restaurant in Wesley Chapel (FL) called Pagelli's tonight. It was delightful! The atmosphere was perfect for an Italian restaurant. To start off, we shared their Mozzarella Fritta, which is fried moz on a layer of pomadore sauce. I failed to take a picture of that, but it's just your typical fried moz in the shape of a triangle. For our entrees: dad had their Salmon Limone: He didn't much care for the artichoke hearts or the capers. Other than that, he enjoyed! I had their Chicken Marsala without mushrooms: Again, a delight to the senses!! I did have my veges in the form of a salad. Their pastry case is to die for: I usually get a desert to go when we eat out, but this time I passed on...

Just another Drive By....

Well, today started out like any other day, but ended wearily! First of all, I was working on the baby sampler last night and found that I miscounted in a huge way! Mr. Frog WILL be paying a visit this weekend, D'oh!  I still haven't taken a picture for the TUSAL, but will over the weekend when things calm down a bit. That's the next topic: My dad picked me up from work around 3:15 pm today and said "Take me to Tampa General". Apparently he has been having a pressure feeling on his chest (left side, non radiating) for several days now. Of course he won't tell anyone when he is not feeling well unless it's real bad (i.e. the massive heart attack in 2008 that required a quad bypass). Soooo, I drove him to the ER where his doc told him to go, bleach splashed clothes and all. Let's just say that my blue t-shirt and blue pants are now a bit more on the purple/pink side in certain areas, lol! That's what happens when cleaning buckets with bleach water,...

Monday Blahs…

Image
Yeah, I have the blahs today. Actually have had them for a few days now. Don’t want to work on my thesis. Don’t want to stitch. Just sitting in front of the computer playing stupid games. Ok, no more about the blahs. They take up too much of people’s lives! LOL Loretta, a big THANK YOU for the chart from your last giveaway! I did finally receive it, after some snafu’s with the mailing and the post. LOL…all is well and arrived save and sound. Now, who do I stitch the Strawberry House for and when?!? Lot’s to decide there! I do have an “orange blossom” update! Aren’t they getting so big?!? I just hope they don’t spoil before I can ship some to one of my friends. LOL And I do have a sunset pic to share:   Look at all of that orange! We do get some of the most beautiful sunsets around here. I found out over the weekend that a gentleman whom I had the pleasure of knowing and working with in Michigan passed last week after a series of illnesses. When I left MI in 2006 ...

Update: Anchors Aweigh

Image
Well, I promised an update on Anchors Aweigh and here it is: I haven’t gotten it finished just yet. I was dealing with such a headache earlier. I couldn’t even concentrate on my studies. Ouch! I called my mom (a nurse) and mentioned that I think I got too much fresh air and that’s why I have a headache, LOL! She disagreed, of course. hehehe... Anyway, as I have been stitching this piece, and especially the cap, I find myself feeling indifferent to the whole design. I guess starting out on a bad thread note doesn't help, but the cap is a bit off even by Candamar's palette. My brain started rolling around and I decided to try to come up with my own Navy sampler. I will incorporate some of my own experiences in the Navy to make it more personalized and the cap will be accurate! LOL!!! And, I also thought about the trinkets I have left over from my uniforms and plan to embellish this design a bit. Maybe that will sway me to liking it more! I do plan to frame it and add it ...

Postcards Are Coming In...

Image
I received 3 new postcards today! I managed to mail out 10 postcards this morning on my way to work. I know that I will be getting at least 1 postcard from France sometime in the next month as my best friend is going home (Nantes) for a visit this weekend. She is awesome about mailing me a postcard while on vacation. Here is a snapshot of those received so far: For a full view of each, check out  my Postcard Exchange page. I have made a little more progress on The Great Pumpkin Conspiracy, but still not finished. I have been a bit achy and tired from the Holiday delivery schedule. I plan to get back on track and have it finished this week and get some more work done on the Christmas Design SAL hosted by Yoyo. I am also officially in my final semester at Vermont College of Union Institute and will be busily finishing my MA Thesis over the next several weeks. Therefore, I don't plan to have much stitching time during the daylight hours. As with last term, I do plan to devot...

I have to thank Parsley for sharing this video on her blog. It is really an interesting little video and fits well with today's government: In stitchy news: I have not completed The Great Pumpkin Conspiracy yet. I was called in to work yesterday and today and will be working the rest of the week. Yay!!! It may not be full time, but it's nice to get out of the house and do something fun and useful once in a while. Needless to say, here are some progress pictures I took last night: I've just the lower left corner to go! What you don't see is that I have finished the border along the top of the design. I left this piece in the qSnaps while taking the pictures. If I don't post before then, HAPPY EASTER CHARLIE BROWN !
