Drive-by Update

As promised, here is an update on Cirque des Carreaux: And, I recently participated in a Secret Santa Christmas Exchange on Margaret Sherry Lover's blog. Here is what I sent: And here is what I received: Hopefully I will update again before Christmas!

A Finish, finally

Image
I managed to finish stitching on that small ornament this week. I have been rifling through  my many magazines and am coming up with things that seem to interest me more right now, so I may wind up starting a new project this weekend. Or I may wind up picking up a WIP. Have a great one!!

The long awaited stitchy post…

Image
As I have previously mentioned, I haven’t had much mojo lately. I thought I would at least share what I have stitched on that little ornament I started a while back. Yeah, I should be beyond finished with it by now, lol! Anyway, I have been spending much of my time either on Facebook playing silly games or reading my “homework” for therapy. I am also going to a women’s Bible study. I will be posting more on my writing blog about that, so you may visit/follow me there . My job is keeping me pretty busy right now, which is a good thing. I have placed a few veterans in jobs over the past few weeks. I recently passed a state certification exam and can now add the initials FCWP (Florida Certified Workforce Professional) at the end of my name (if I so choose). Now I just continue to do my job and wait for my first of 3 trips to Denver for more training. I’ll leave you with this image: I got to spend a few hours with my beautiful niece on March 30th while she was down here for her Sprin...

Groove

I am slowly getting back into the groove of stitching. I have been looking through some of the magazines I have collected through the years and found some smalls that would be great for ornaments, Christmas ornaments that is! I am going to try to stitch some of those throughout the year. I do want to redirect y’all to my writing blog: A Day in the Life of Me . ~~~Until Next Time~~~

December WIPocalypse and another finish

I have been in a great mood lately and I think it’s reflected in my stitching. Anyway, here is my WIP update for the month: The Gardeners Ornaments VIEW SLIDE SHOW DOWNLOAD ALL   As you can see, I haven’t spent much time on anything this month....

Finished Ornies

Image
OK, so this year I only made 5 ornaments and those were for a few friends. Here they are (in no particular order): The 4 above are from a booklet that came with an issue of Cross Stitch Crazy in 2009. I think this one is my favorite design. It’s “Peace” by Jeannette Douglas Designs from the 2012 Christmas Ornament Issue of JCS.

4 Ornies Stitched…

Image
I am working on some special gifts for some special friends this week. I just need to finish them into actual ornaments. Here are the 4 ornies so far… Ornaments 2012 VIEW SLIDE SHOW DOWNLOAD ALL I still have a few more pieces to stitch before I actually assemble them into their respective final ornament. The designs came from a booklet that was in Cross Stitch Crazy in 2009. I am not following exact color schemes; i...

November WIPocalypse Update

Image
It’s so hard to believe the year is almost over! It seems like it only just got started. Oh well, guess they were right when they said the years go by faster as you get older, lol! Anyway, here is my update for the month: Coming Home for the Holidays I have begun the detail stitching although I have a teeny bit of regular stitching left. I need to contact Dimensions to see if they can send me replacement.   Cream for Kitty I am close to halfway done on this piece. I am planning to spend more time on it in December. For now, I am working on some Christmas ornies (gifts) and my giveaway surprise!   Vibrant Vases ~ Vase #2 Well, I am really not happy working with the metallics for this vase so I think I may switch it up a bit and use 1 cotton and 1 metallic strand. We’ll see how that works out.     Christmas Ornaments These are some cute little designs that came as an insert in a 2009 issue of Cross Stitch Crazy (import from UK) around the holidays. The...

Hurricane Sandy

Image
To all of my friends in the path of Sandy, (no, not this Sandy although she has been a bit of a “hurricane” lately) please seek shelter and stay safe! A lot has been happening in my life over the past couple weeks. I have accepted a new job and start on Nov 5th! I am still with the State and keep my benefits, however I will be receiving about $7,000 more in salary per year. I am beyond excited and a little sad. I am sad to leave all of my new friends at DOC. Although we will keep in touch and a few of us plan to still get together for card night. I am excited because it is a position working with veteran’s. This is something I have been wanting to do for quite some time now. And now for the WIPocalypse update! I worked on Coming Home for the Holidays in my SAL with Lana. I am sooo close on this one. I need to do the detail work and contact Dimensions for replacement floss.   I worked on Medallions :   I am not too happy about the new skein of floss (Aqua Clouds by Si...

WIPocalypse for March

Image
Well, it’s just about that time again! I thought I would post a wee bit early since I (had to take) today off. Car troubles. Long story. Quite annoying and boring. I digress… First up is an update on Butterfly and Shamrocks Wreath . I am really liking how this one is coming together, although I am rather tired of the constant color changes. It is a pretty piece though. Next up are a couple of finished finishes. Since I had to stay home today, I decided to take the opportunity (and the motivation I was feeling) to make a couple of ornaments out of recent finishes. On the first one, I used a piece of cording received from Cindy Mae Designs (quite) a while back. The second one still needs some cording. I am leaning towards a red combination. I have also shared with you the coordinating backing fabrics I used on each ornament.   While we did not do our SAL this past weekend, I did decide to put a little time in on Coming Home this afternoon. I know that Joy had family visiti...

A Happy Dance

Image
I finally finished another piece! This is from an insert from one of my Cross Stitch Christmas books. I started stitching it late last year in hopes of finishing it for my niece in MI. Alas, she will not get it until the end of this year. Not a whole lot else happening here. Dad is doing well, although he will be starting a new chemo treatment in the next week or so. Those appointments begin on Wednesday with blood work and health education. My job is going well and while I am enjoying my 3-day weekends, I am looking forward to being back on a more normal schedule. We are still waiting to find out our fate. Lots of prayers going to God to keep us open as we are the highest ranked prison in the state. In the mean time, I am keeping it real and making plans to transfer if it comes to that. I was also finally able to send out the framed piece to my best friend and her husband. While the photo is showing a more elegant frame, this is not the frame I ultimately used (after showing m...

Quick Post

Image
I have been stitching on an ornament on-and-off all weekend and I am almost finished with the stitching portion of it. I will post a picture later in the week. Speaking of the upcoming week, my work hours have changed. I am now working Mon-Thu 7:30am to 6pm. This gives me an extra day to stitch on the weekends, YIPPEE!!!   Of course, this is only temporary until I am either transferred or get my own vehicle. Not going to say much more on that subject. Have a great week!!!
