Do I Still Live in Florida?!?!

Image
Cause it sure has been a cold winter. Here's the forecast for tonight where I live (Zephyrhills is my city): I know I shouldn't complain because most of this country is much colder than here. However, one day, I swear you will see a Blog Post entitled: "I Have Moved to the EQUATOR!" Stay warm my bloggy friends! Zephyr Lake Park on the evening of 23 Jan 2014

Weekend Stitching Progress

Image
Well, I already shared with you some of my weekend stitching, but here is what I have done since: I almost have the 3rd page completed! Definitely will have a finish next weekend!!

Rebuilding Faith

We are working through the book of Nehemiah at church for the next several weeks (anticipated to finish the end of February but have been "warned" it could go longer). I love the Old Testament just as much as the New so this is an exciting time for me in my spiritual growth! I have to say that our church is going through some growing pains hence the study of Nehemiah. You see, we are trying to get a new sanctuary built. Two of the 3 services are busting at the seams and the 3rd, which is the one I attend, has nearly doubled. This is good news indeed! Nehemiah was a man, a servant to King Artaxerxes in Babylon, who was chosen by God to rebuild Jerusalem. The city laid in ruins for more than 140 years by the time he was chosen. While rebuilding the city, Nehemiah was met with challenge after challenge, but eventually Jerusalem was rebuilt. We all face challenges, especially when we are working God's vision in our lives. I for one face many challenges on a regular basis.

Coming Home for the Holidays

Lana, over at A Joyful Stitcher , and I are doing a SAL on "Coming Home for the Holidays". We both have had it in our WIP pile for some time. We worked on it in 2012 as a SAL and set it aside last year, deciding to pick it up again this year. Yesterday (Saturday) was our SAL for this month. Here is my progress: I managed to get the top roof line in and part of the tree. I only have detail work left on my piece. And it's kinda warped from being left in hoops a couple years back. No, not for a couple years, LOL! Only a month or so, but long enough to warp the fabric. See what I mean... Anyway, I have tomorrow off for Martin Luther King Jr Federal Holiday so I plan to spend the remainder of today and tomorrow working on "The Gardeners". Oh, and I am looking for ideas of something small, say card size or bookmark size, to stitch for my Pastor(s) at church. Next month we are celebrating Pastor Appreciation all month long. Suggestions welcomed!

WIPocalypse Check-In for January

Image
Hi all! I decided to rejoin this SAL for this year. I took a year off from the SAL as I was dealing with the range of emotions following my dad's death in 2012. I am still dealing, but at least happy to report that I am picking that needle and floss back up more frequently. This alone made me want to be held accountable for finally finishing some of my WIPs that I neglected last year. My Page called "WIPocalypse 2014" will be published later this weekend and will have the list of projects I hope to complete this year. For now, I will share with you my progress on "The Gardeners": This is where I left off in December 2012 This is where I left off as of 1.15.14 Next time I will have progress on this as well as "Coming Home for the Holidays" as Lana and I have decided to SAL that one again this year.

My Weekend with The Gardeners

I spent some quality time with "The Gardeners" this weekend and now have 2 1/2 pages completed. Here is a picture: Not much else to report. Next weekend is my SAL with Lana on "Coming Home for the Holidays".

The Gardeners Progress and New Chart

Well, Hobby Lobby officially opened in our little town this weekend and I went there on Saturday. My intention was to browse around and price some things but I wound up purchasing something. Now, I didn't spend a whole lot of money as I don't really have the extra right now, but I couldn't pass up my favorite Chapter in the Bible: I have also put quite a bit of time into "The Gardeners". Here is where I left off last night: Lana, over at A Joyful Stitcher , and I are going to pick up our "Coming Home for the Holidays" SAL again beginning on Jan 18th. We will be stitching on it 1 Saturday each month as a way to encourage and motivate one another to finish. If you are stitching this and would like to join us, just send me a quick note (frggygrl@aol.com). Another thing she asked is if I would be interested in doing a Bible Study together. So, in addition to the Ladies' Group I am involved with at church and my own personal study time (i.e.

New Year, New Me?

Image
I've spent the last year working on myself. Trying to figure out who I am, what I value, what my goals are for the future. This is no easy task, believe me. What I have figured out, as we start 2014, is that I have NO CLUE who I really am. I still place too much value on family and friends and not enough on GOD. I am not the type of person to make New Year's Resolutions, therefore none were made for 2014. However, I do have some goals in mind for the coming year and we will see just how much progress I really make. These are in no particular order. I will just type them as they come... Goal #1 : Get below the 200 lb mark (currently at 234.4). I lost 25 lbs late 2012 and early 2013 but gained most back when the depression set in during the spring. My ultimate, desired goal is to get back to the 130 mark if not lower. I felt my best at 110. Goal #2 : Get my own life. As previously stated, I spend too much time trying to get family and friends to spend time with me. Which l
