I just don't know what to think

Image
I haven't posted in a while and it seems like when I do post anymore it's negative so let me start with something positive. I spoke with a close friend that I haven't spoken with since 2013 when we last saw one another. It was so nice to hear his voice. There were reasons I haven't spoken with him, but nothing to discuss here. I didn't realise how much I truly miss him until we spoke last week. But I do. I'm sure he knows. I'm sure he could sense it anyway. LOL... I just hope we speak again soon. Our conversations are always filled with history, Bible, current events, and so much more.  On the down side, I have been so angry. I am angry with our president and the mess he has made of not just our country but Afghanistan. I am angry and sad for the Americans and Allies that are stuck in that country, left to fend for themselves against the Taliban. Angry that we don't have leadership in place to get them out! What the hell is wrong with this administration...

Too Much Going On

Image
There is just way too much going on in this country right now. Too much hate. Too much division. Too much anger. Too much destruction. Too much, period. I am disgusted with how certain groups want to just "cancel" our country's history; good, bad, and otherwise. I am a historian. I am a veteran. I love America. The Good, The Bad, The Ugly (yes, I know it's the title of a Clint Eastwood movie, but it holds here).  I spoke with my mom today and she told me that she was pretty much called a racist because she didn't agree with all of these monuments and such being removed. I'm sorry, my beloved family, but it is a PART OF OUR HISTORY! Get over yourselves. I cannot believe how utterly close-minded you are that you would belittle your mother/grandmother over something like this. No, she doesn't agree with slavery. No, I don't agree with slavery. Of ANY kind. But it happened. It's part of our history. Hey, did you know that those human beings that came o...

Anger Danger

Image
I recently read on a bank's sign the following sentiment: "Anger is just one letter short of danger." There is so much truth in this. Anger is "a strong feeling of displeasure and belligerence aroused by a wrong; wrath; ire" according to http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/anger. We all get angry at times. But what does the Bible say about anger? Well, I did a little digging and came up with some verses about anger that I want to share. I especially like the one in Ephesians and try to live by that; not going to bed angry. You see, anger is not just a sin. It's unhealthy. But it IS a SIN! I found this verse while searching the others and thought it a fitting way to end this post: In our anger, we can oftentimes find ourselves in the midst of a dangerous situation. I encourage you that if you have issues with anger, please turn it over to our Heavenly Father. We can do all things through Him who gives us strength.
