Cirque des Carreaux and a Birthday!

Image
First of all, I want to wish (yet again) my mom a VERY HAPPY 60th BIRTHDAY! I have almost finished page 2 of CdC and so far I like the way it is turning out. Here are some progress pictures: Cirque des Carreaux VIEW SLIDE SHOW DOWNLOAD ALL Not sure what I will be working on this weekend. On the job front: I had an interview yesterday morning for a really good position. It is a State job and I really want it! I...

Job Hunting

Image
Well, I have been looking for a new job for little over a month now. The changes made to unemployment require me to show proof of at least 5 contacts each week. That said, I did have an interview today and I think it went rather well. I wonā€™t get into too much detail at this time, but I am really hoping to be selected for the position. In other news, my mom turns 60 tomorrow! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM! I know you read this from time to time, lol. And my kitties are playing so well together now!

A Start & Finish, Progress, and stuff

Image
Sunday, my sister called and asked if I would come down for the night. Of course, I went! Since she is still getting settled she doesnā€™t have cable yet so I had to take a bunch of movies with me. I also took a couple of projects with me to work on. One of them was The First Day by Plum Street Samplers (from the JCS Christmas Preview issue): Since I didnā€™t have all of the necessary recommended floss and fabric, I improvised. I used WDW Williamsburg and Loden and stitched on 28ct Antique White Evenweave by MCG Textiles. I think it looks beautiful!   Remember this piece (JBW French Heart):           Well, I finally finished it and itā€™s on itā€™s way to my mom as this: She turns 60 on Friday and I thought this would be perfect since I canā€™t do what I originally planned on at this time.     A progress picture from last week that I forgot aboutā€¦I did put some stitches into the second vase. I am still not too keen on metallics, but I a...

I just put the final stitches into Abraham Lincolnā€™s Birthplace Sampler and took a picture: Abraham Lincolnā€™s Birthplace Sampler By: Barbara Bangser for The Posy Collection 14ct Charles Craft Ivory Aida DMC Floss Included in kit And this is what it looked like when I visited the National Historic Site in 2005: Abraham Lincolnā€™s Birthplace VIEW SLIDE SHOW DOWNLOAD ALL Because this building is so o...

I feel another finish coming!

Image
I am almost done with Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln Sampler VIEW SLIDE SHOW DOWNLOAD ALL I think my motivation to get projects finished is not so much in keeping up with the Crazy Challenge and finishing that goal, but that I may not have all this free time in a few months. I am determined to have a full-time job by the end of the year, first of 2012. Iā€™ll post my finish on this later tonight or tomorrow someti...

Lincoln, Fabric and giveaways!

Image
There are several great giveaways going on right now. Check out my <--- left sidebar for links! I have been working on the Abraham Lincoln Sampler for the past couple of days. I am a little more than halfway: Abraham Lincolnā€™s Birthplace Sampler VIEW SLIDE SHOW DOWNLOAD ALL   I have to admit that I was hesitant about the detail back stitches in the roof. But after doing a couple of rows I am quite ...

Halloween is Finished

Image
Yes, I have another Crazy finish! I made myself sit and finish stitching that blasted border today. It took me about 5 hours on and off. Here is a picture of the final product: If I never have to stitch another border like this one again it wouldnā€™t be soon enough! LOL Guess this means I have to be more careful of the charts I choose. Yeah, right! I also promised an update on The Gardeners , et voila:   Not sure what I will work on the rest of this week. Maybe I will try to finish the second vase in Vibrant Vases . Until next timeā€¦

10 Years Laterā€¦

Image
ā€¦We are still holding strong to our beliefs. ā€¦We are still remembering our heroes. ā€¦We are still the United States of America. I have been seeing a lot of ā€œWhere were you 10 years ago today?ā€ out here in blogland. For me, I will never forget this day nor this date. On Sunday, September 9, 2001 I went to bed and had a dream. I dreamed about a plane flying into a tall building. Little did I know that this particular dream would be one that came true. On Tuesday, September 11, 2001 I was on my way to Ann Arbor, MI to the VA Hospital as I was extremely ill. All the way there I noticed semiā€™s being pulled over and cops everywhere. I had not yet seen or heard the news, but being so close to Canada, I figured it had something to do with border patrol issues. Boy, was I ever wrong. We got to the hospital and I noticed a heightened sense of security. Still, I didnā€™t connect the two. It wasnā€™t until I was in the examining room when the doctor came in and asked me ā€œHave you heard an...

WOW!

Image
Thatā€™s how my day has been. Just, WOW! Been watching movies and working on The Gardeners . Here is where I left off last night: Iā€™ve gotten a bit more done this morning/afternoon and will post another update on it tomorrow sometime. I am hoping to get page 2 completed, which is the section I am working on currently (the top, right side). Should be doable! LOL Now for the WOW!!! My favoritest niece in the whole wide world called me a little while ago. If you know the history youā€™d know that she hasnā€™t really been speaking to me for some time now and my heart has been broken over that. Itā€™s partly my fault, but I donā€™t take full responsibility (nor will I go into details). Anyway, she really made my day with the phone call (sheā€™s 13 years old by the way). I miss her like crazy and wished we lived closer together. Since moving to Florida in 2006, Michigan seems like a lifetime away, and we arenā€™t as close as we once were. Well, sheā€™s in 8th grade this year and made the VOLLEYBALL ...

Week-end a Paris

Image
I spent a couple of days in Paris! Well, not the real Paris, but the Week-end a Paris piece I have been working on as part of the Crazy Challenge. I am about halfway complete now: Today, I picked up The Gardeners and put some stitches into it. I will work a little more tonight and tomorrow on that piece, then switch to something else for the weekend. Until next timeā€¦

Weekend Stitching and other things

Image
A BIG WELCOME to my newest followers! I have had a few requests on my historical pieces specifically asking for designer information. The designers on those pieces vary, but I picked up the kits at the historical sites I have visited (i.e. The Abraham Lincoln Birthplace Sampler was purchased at the gift shop at that National Historical Site in Hodgenville, Kentucky). They are distributed by The Posy Collection . Their website lists a handful of the cross stitch items they have. I also linked ā€œhistorical sitesā€ above to the National Park Service website. I encourage you to visit your local National Parks or any along the way if ever on a road trip! Now on to the stitching bitā€¦ I spent Saturday through this morning with my sister in Plant City (FL). While there, I managed to put in a meager few stitches on Coming Home. Here is where I left things before the weekend: And here is where things stand now (no pun intended): I also took a pic of this in the ā€œPop Artā€ function...

Woodrow Wilsonā€™s Birthplaceā€¦

Image
ā€¦progress! I spent much of the last couple days stitching on Wilsonā€™s Birthplace. I have the house nearly complete, including backstitches! Here are some pics: This is where I left off in May And this is where it stands as of last night! Going to try to get back on the Crazy rotation. I am also going to put some time in on the Coming Home for the Holidays SAL with Lana over the weekend. In addition to all of this, I am still looking for a full time job (and I absolutely hate trying to write a resume) and spending the weekend helping my sister move. I may wind up staying with her most of the weekend. Oh, and here is a picture of my baby, Abu, trying to assist me in my stitching efforts: And, I changed my Blog Title to "A Stitch in Time with Jules".  Until next timeā€¦
