"When Irish Eyes Are Smiling"

A little tribute to my Irish friends and family:
When Irish Eyes Are Smiling, sure 'tis like a morn in spring.
In the lilt of Irish laughter you can hear the angels sing,
When Irish hearts are happy all the world seems bright and gay,
And When Irish Eyes Are Smiling, sure, they steal your heart away.
I love my Irish heritage! I look forward to Saint Patrick's Day each and every year. Whether it is the green, the leprechauns (my maternal grandfather used to call me his little leprechaun - although he passed when I was 7 months old), or those shamrock shakes...I just love this holiday. I think my favorite part truly is the music. There is something about Irish jigs that just make me happy and giddy. Let's just say that these Irish eyes are smilin' for sure! :D

In other news, I received a nice little gift from across the pond. Clare of Aimetu's Stitching sent me a little "thank you" for the Quaker Medallion pattern. Here is a picture of my gift:

The floss is b-e-a-utiful (to quote from a Jim Carrey movie). I am not sure of the color, but the tag says it is "Dragon Floss". On the back of the tag is a website address for Polstitches Designs. I think I will be trying my hand at the Hardanger Bookmark this weekend and I may be using this new floss for the stranded cotton instead of DMC. Thank you so much for the gift Clare!!

Now, off to do some stitching before the night is too far gone!

I'm glad it arrived safely - you can use any floss do the bookmark, I designed it in perle as it was for a traditional hardanger class. You may need to use a different count fabric though, maybe 28.

Farewell Daddy 3.8.1949 ~ 9.5.2012

Thank you for being my daddy for the last 40 plus years. You were my rock when I needed one. You were my best friend. You are now in our loving Lord’s arms and healed of your pain. Reuniting with long departed loved ones. And Mrs. Beasley too. I will miss the way you play your guitar and sing the songs you enjoy. May WIPocalypse check-in and a Giveaway

Well, it’s almost here! I am almost 40!! Why do I sound so happy about it you might be wondering. Most people get to this age and act as though their world is coming to an end. I choose to look at it in a positive way: I am STILL ALIVE!!! I know HE has a plan for me and my life. I am thankful everyday that I wake up. I am also thankful for my stitchy friends here in bloggy-land. Just because we don’t know one another on a personal level doesn’t mean we don’t know one another, right?!
